Job description

About the role

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer on the Crunchtime Suite team, you will be a key contributor to the evolution of our enterprise platform. We are seeking an empathetic systems thinker to collaborate with a talented team on researching and developing new features, products, and scalable service architectures.

This role focuses on building high-impact, customer-facing functionality that serves as the core of our user experience.

As this is an R&D environment, our technology stack is intentionally flexible; however, our current technical direction leans towards Java and relational databases, with an eye toward event-driven architecture using streaming integrations like Kafka.

What you'll do as a Senior Software Engineer I
  • Improve tooling and software that comprises the Crunchtime Suite, including potential Web UI, APIs, and other forms of integration between services.
  • Contribute to and influence design and development decisions across the Suite.
  • Work within a self-managing system using Sociocracy to drive continuous flow and value delivery.
  • Engage tight feedback loops with stakeholders to evolve our processes and optimize customer value.
  • Maximize throughput and minimize risk by using Pair Programming, TDD, CI/CD, and other DevOps best practices.
  • Use Jira, Slack, and Zoom to maintain high transparency and communicate effectively with your team and leadership.
What we're looking for
  • Great communicator and outstanding team player. Bias towards over-communicating and asking questions.
  • Desire to be part of a team, be a part of the culture and contribute, seeking the best outcome for the team.
  • Curious and intentional about self-development.
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages, software development frameworks, and tools.
  • Expertise in system architecture and design patterns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Agile methods and associated principles.
  • RDBMS experience.
  • Ability to design and implement the right technical solution for the right problem at the right time.
  • Strong focus on delivering quality results early and often.
Nice to haves
  • Specific experience with Crunchtime tech (Java, Javascript, Python, SQL).
  • Experience with DevOps.
  • Expertise in and experience developing enterprise and web products at scale.
  • Experience with distributed systems, complex user interfaces or other challenging engineering problems.
  • You've built great relationships with coworkers in the past, and want to keep doing it.
  • You care similarly about building great software, and building great relationships with other people.
  • You're interested in the technical problems we are solving.
  • You're interested in the types of business problems we are solving
What you'll get
  • Great mission-driven team members from diverse backgrounds with a strong company culture
  • Competitive pay
  • Flexible PTO
  • Paid company holidays
  • Yearly team off-sites
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits (FSA, HSA & HRA options)
  • Basic & Voluntary Life Insurance
  • 401k employer match
  • Wellness benefits
  • Commuter benefits
  • Work in an open environment on solutions that are reshaping the way businesses operate
  • Fun team events
  • Ability to have a big impact
  • 10 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Fitness reimbursement
  • Learning & development funds

Essential Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Prolonged periods of typing and working at a computer
  • Ability to listen and speak over the phone or Zoom calls
  • High level of mental concentration and focus
