Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer - Java Developer to join our team on site in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop, integrate, test and maintain desktop and web applications and backend services as part of an Integration Functional Capability (IFC)
• Collaborate and work in an engineering environment with other teams such as other SW teams, HW team and System Test team.
• Identify technical risks/opportunities and proactively develop mitigation plans.
• Communicate the progress and accomplishments of the team to senior leadership.
• Create and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to ensure stability and quality at all stages of the software development life cycle.
• Work in a process-oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle
• Strong desire to learn new things and adapt where required
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
• Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
• Experience in developing Java microservices, web services and/or desktop applications
• Experience with XML/XSLT/XSD and XML technologies such as JAXB and XPath
• Experience with Maven
• Strong collaboration and excellent communication skills verbal and written using collaborating tools such as Confluence and Jira
• Familiarity with Agile development approach (sprint planning, retrospective and scrum)
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
• Experience working with one or more of these databases: Postgres, CloudNativePG, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and Redis
• Experience interfacing with a messaging service such as JMS, ActiveMQ or Kafka
Experience developing containerized software
• Experience with automating tasks using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell or Python.
• Experience creating/maintaining DevOps CI/CD pipelines: Maven, Bamboo, GitLab, Bitbucket.
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
