Job description

Summary:


The Mechatronics Engineer Co-op student will work alongside our experienced team of engineers and contribute to the development of new products and technologies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects and gain hands-on experience.


PPE (personal protective equipment) is available and provided on site.


Responsibilities - Object Tester (50%):


  • Operating from a checklist, the tester will be responsible for carrying objects through our detection systems in different configurations and positions.
  • The tester will typically walk through a series of arches/pillars, about 20'/6m in length. The tester will maintain a constant walking speed through the different systems.


Responsibilities - Mechanical & Electrical Design (50%) :


  • Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and test mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Participate in the creation of technical documents, including design specifications, drawings and assembly guides.
  • Perform hands-on soldering and electronics assembly to build prototypes and test circuits and systems.
  • Assemble/ disassemble various test fixtures and integration of assemblies into systems.
  • Design CAD drawings of various simple structures and 3D print models
  • Help design and develop electronic circuits and systems.
  • Help analyze and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Help modify CAD designs of complex structures.
  • Contribute to the development of new product ideas and concepts.


Requirements:


  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance and technical skills.
  • Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with electronic circuit design and analysis, proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools would be a plus.
  • Be able to walk continuously while carrying objects that weigh from several ounces up to 8 lbs/3.5kg.
  • Attention to detail when required to carry objects at specific positions and combinations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.


Terms:

  • Required to work in our downtown Toronto office (55 York St.), 5 days/week, 8 hours/day. Hours may vary.
  • Starting September 2025
  • Must be fully eligible to work in Canada.
