Job Details

Reporting to the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, the Automation Test Developer (Co-op) will support the QA Team in delivering high-quality, fit-for-purpose products and services that meet the needs of our business and customers. As part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you'll gain hands-on experience with modern tools and agile processes that drive continuous improvement. You'll actively participate in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) within an agile environment, applying QA best practices through test planning, execution, reviewing technical deliverables and developing automated tests to enhance efficiency and reliability.


We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Automation Test Developers Co-ops to join our QA team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test suites for browser-based and data-driven applications.


We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn. You communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and know when to ask for help. You'll be supported by a knowledgeable team of QA Analysts, Senior Analysts, and a QA Manager, all committed to helping you learn, grow, and succeed throughout your co-op experience at CARFAX Canada.


Position Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using C# and Selenium WebDriver.
  • Implement and execute test cases for web applications and data validation scenarios.
  • Utilize testing frameworks such as NUnit and MSTest to structure and manage test execution.
  • Collaborate with QA analysts, developers, and product owners to understand requirements and ensure test coverage.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of test automation practices.
  • Document test results, defects, and provide feedback to the development team.
  • Assist in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Communicate test progress, results, and other relevant information to the team, project stakeholders, and management.
  • Use established QA processes and best practices.
  • Log, track, and resolve product defects and make recommendations for improvement.


Education and Experience Required:


  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program, with an approved co-op placement.
  • Strong programming skills in languages like C#/Python/Java
  • Familiarity with Selenium WebDriver for browser automation.
  • Experience or coursework involving NUnit, MSTest, or similar testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and QA methodologies.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong critical thinking skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience with software development and testing in an Agile environment is an asset.
  • Experience with accessibility, API, automated, mobile, or performance testing is a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
