Job description

Summary of Position:
This position is a field position that assists with the management, coordination, and hands-on construction of a project in the water and wastewater treatment industry. Field Co-ops work directly for the Project Superintendent and foremen to gain knowledge and experience to become a Project Superintendent or Project Manager. This will require hands-on training and working with tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain daily jobsite and production logs, daily/weekly records of deliveries, stored materials, equipment hours, and other logs.
  • Assist with the placement of forms for footings, walls, columns, and decks.
  • Coordinate with assigned crew to ensure successful concrete pours.
  • Maintain company tools and equipment in good working and safe order.
  • Work with pipe laborers and millwrights on underground piping, process piping, and process equipment.
  • Take part in construction activities as frequently as possible while maintaining other listed responsibilities.
  • Attend meetings with subcontractors, engineers, and owners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist in estimating responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Educational background- In the process of earning a Bachelor's degree in the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering and/or construction management (Field working experience may be considered without a degree).
  • Prior internship or Co-op experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, workflow and handle multiple duties while meeting deadlines.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and/or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
