Summary of the Job:

We are seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join our ODS development team. This role will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of backend services within a microservice-based platform deployed on AWS. The ideal candidate has solid hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience and is eager to grow their skills in cloud-native, distributed systems development.

About This Role:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and the Spring Framework
  • Collaborate Product Owner and QA to deliver high-quality features
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following team standards and best practices
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects and production issues (on call support is required for this role)
  • Contribute to technical documentation
  • Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries and schemas
  • Support the evolution of services within a microservice architecture, with opportunities to grow AWS and cloud deployment skills

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of professional experience developing applications in Java
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (version 3 or 4)
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience working with relational databases (SQL, schema design, query writing)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with PostgreSQL specifically
  • Experience with microservices architecture and design patterns
  • Experience deploying or working with applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS)
  • Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to newer Spring Boot / Spring 5+ concepts

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $79,363.00-$130,949.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
