We’re looking for a Software Engineer I Co-op to join our Hub team in Vancouver, BC for a 4-month co-op term. In this role, you will work on a variety of development teams across our entire engineering group.
Software Engineer I Co-ops on the Hub team contribute to all aspects of the development lifecycle, including product features, cloud operations, release processes, and internal dev-ops tools. Software Engineer I Co-ops join teams and take full responsibility for designing, implementing, and testing new features in our products.
Students currently enrolled in an applicable co-op program at BCIT, UBC, UVic, or SFU will be considered for this role. Please note you must apply through your co-op office as well and provide your academic transcript with your application.
What You'll Do- Developing, testing, and maintaining Planview products and tools in line with established standards.
- Participating in peer reviews of designs and code.
- Analyzing, reproducing, and resolving technical and application problems.
- Developing and maintaining our automation tools and various test scenarios.
- Performing software testing to ensure the quality and stability of features in development.
- Engaging operational responsibilities of the team
What You'll Bring- Familiarity with Java, our primary development language
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming and common design patterns
- Foundational knowledge of computer system architecture concepts
- Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as React
- Introductory experience with the Spring framework for backend development
- Interest in or experience with test-driven development (TDD)
- Foundational knowledge of relational databases and writing basic queries
- Comfortable using Git for version control and learning CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions
- Exposure to AWS services such as EKS, RDS, S3, or ElastiCache
- Familiarity with network protocols like REST and HTTP
