Job Description Software Engineer 3 - Core Java Location: Charlotte, NC Contract: 6 months with potential extension/conversion Hybrid: 3 days onsite - Monday & Tuesday required; Thursday encouraged Position Overview Seeking a strong Java Backend Engineer to join a 10-person team supporting and modernizing a large, complex Collections application. The team is migrating a legacy Java Server Faces (JSF) application to React while modernizing backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and MongoDB. This position will primarily focus on backend Java development, with some React experience needed to support the overall application migration.

Key Responsibilities Develop and enhance backend applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices. Support modernization of a legacy Java/JSF application to React. Design and maintain microservices integrating with MongoDB.

Develop and support Kafka integrations, including filters and event processing. Analyze and modify complex legacy Java code. Deploy and support applications within OpenShift/Kubernetes and cloud environments.

Collaborate with developers and business partners within a Kanban/Agile team. Participate in quarterly production releases as needed. Required Qualifications 5-7 years of Java development experience.

Strong Core Java backend development skills. Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Microservices. Strong experience with Kafka.

Experience with React. Ability to understand and work with large, complex legacy Java applications. Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications MongoDB experience. OpenShift, Kubernetes, or cloud experience. Financial services or Collections experience.
