  •  Actively assists the Waiter during the set-up of the restaurant, checking the cleanliness and quality of all equipment, glassware, cutlery, chinaware, linen, napkins, etc. 
  • Assists in the preparation of any mis-en-place and equipment required for service, ensuring they are being stored correctly until required. 
  • Assists the Waiter during service periods and ensures service sequences are being followed during meal periods. 
  • Ensures the appropriate table settings are in place and in line with both company and sanitation protocols. 
  • Knowledgeable about the dining and beverage menus and actively upsells and makes recommendations based on guest preferences. 
  • Assists with guest dietary requirements. 
  •  Understands the setup, product and service expectations of their respective area and immediately rectifies any shortfalls that would have a negative impact on the guest experience.
  • Consistently supports the efforts to exceed service targets and other key metrics by adhering to the Service Excellence standards.
  •  Minimizes breakage, loss, and theft of service items by always handling equipment and supplies with care. 
  • Actively promotes in a helpful manner alternative dining venues and other company initiatives to guests. 
  • Operates shipboard devices and technologies to ensure accurate processing of guest transactions. 
  • Graduate of a recognized Catering / Hotel Management School (Preferred).
  • At least two years of restaurant service experience on a cruise ship or in alternative fine dining service experience from premium restaurants and/or luxury hotels (5 stars).
  • Able to adequately explain pricing, food, wine, and cocktail menus to the guests.
  • Knowledge of fine dining operations and excellent restaurant service.
  • Strong communicator with personable social skills to actively interact with a variety of guest demographics.
  • Necessary computer skills and knowledge of P.O.S. systems.
  • Command of the English and Japanese language, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of the foundation of guest service; ability and willingness to deliver outstanding service to our guests.
  • Motivation to excel in all aspects of job duties and responsibilities. 
  • Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality. 
  • Ability to continuously surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience. 
  • Commitment to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
This position involves regular physical activity, including standing for extended periods and lifting or moving heavy items in line with operational requirements.
