Job Title: Account Manager (Automotive – Japanese OEM & Tier Supplier Focus)

Location: Plymouth, Michigan

Position Overview

An established, global automotive supplier is seeking an experienced Account Manager to lead and grow business with Japanese OEMs and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers. This role is ideal for a professional who understands the nuances of working with Japanese customers, including cultural expectations, communication style, and long‑term relationship development. The Account Manager will serve as the primary commercial interface, driving revenue growth, managing key accounts, and supporting new business acquisition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow strategic accounts with Japanese automotive OEMs and Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all commercial and business‑related activities
  • Develop and execute account strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth targets
  • Lead RFQ processes, including pricing strategy, quote preparation, and negotiation
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams (engineering, program management, manufacturing, quality) to support customer requirements
  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with customer stakeholders in both U.S. and Japan‑based organizations
  • Support program launches and ensure alignment with customer expectations on timing, cost, and quality
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer initiatives to identify new business opportunities
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customer engagement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of account management or sales experience within the automotive supplier industry (Tier 1 or Tier 2)
  • Proven experience working with Japanese OEMs and/or Japanese suppliers
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, product development cycles, and program launches
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex negotiations and growing key accounts
