About the job Accounting Manager (Hybrid) - Japanese Bilingual

A leading Japanese travel company is seeking an experienced and bilingual Accounting professional to join our team in Oahu, Hawaii. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can oversee accounting operations, support financial reporting, and collaborate with both U.S. and Japan-based stakeholders.

  • Position: Accounting Manager / Senior Accounting Manager
  • Location: Oahu, Hawaii - (Hybrid)

[Key Responsibilities]

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including AP/AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and corporate headquarters in Japan
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff while improving operational processes and internal controls
  • Support business planning and financial analysis for management decision-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and travel business teams
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

[Qualifications]

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred
  • 7+ years of Finance & Accounting experience, preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role, preferred
  • Business-level bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese (spoken and written)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience working in an international or Japanese company environment is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
