SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc., a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier and member of the Motherson Group, is seeking a Material Feed Technician to support our Injection Molding operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining material flow to production equipment, supporting production uptime, and ensuring quality standards are met in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
  • Perform material and color changes for injection molding equipment.
  • Maintain uninterrupted material flow to molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Operate and monitor material drying, blending, and conveying systems.
  • Troubleshoot material feed and vacuum conveying issues.
  • Ensure proper material identification, traceability, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate lot control records and dryer change schedules.
  • Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices.
  • Ensure material containers and Gaylords are properly covered and protected from contamination.
  • Support production changeovers and startup activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
  • Cross-train and support other production activities as needed.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing.
  • Experience with material drying, conveying, or blending systems.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
