Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $134,100.00 - $223,500.00 for Chicago, IL and $124,200 - $207,000 for a remote position. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 20%, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position Details  

The Senior Product Manager for Grainger.com is responsible for advancing the end-to-end customer experience, partnering with product managers across search, cart and checkout, and account management to evaluate journey effectiveness and identify opportunities to create more connected and valuable digital experiences for customers. 

We are looking for product managers to help guide and chart a course for Grainger's enterprise systems and application development so that Grainger continues to be the destination for "the ones that get it done". The Senior Product Manager contributes to the product strategy, vision, and roadmap of future products, with high degree of ownership over critical features and the customer experience. You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch innovative aspects of a product. You are creative and highly analytical, able to work in a matrix organization, can synthesize a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. You will report to the VP, Product Management.  

Work Location: 

The position will be located in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, IL and is hybrid with 2 days per week required in the office. We will also consider highly qualified non-local candidates for remote work who are willing to travel to Chicago for onboarding and occasional team meetings. Onsite onboarding will be required. We will also consider candidates who are seeking relocation with partial assistance. 
 

You Will:  

  • Own and evolve the product strategy for Grainger.com, establishing enterprise roadmaps across now, near, and next to drive advantaged customer outcomes at every stage. As roadmaps enter execution, ensure work is well-formed and clear for delivery partners. 

  • Define and monitor success metrics across the roadmap, making data-informed decisions in ambiguous environments, driving outcomes aligned to the product strategy and creating transparency and accountability across teams and stakeholders. 

  • Influence senior stakeholders through clear narratives that connect product strategy to business outcomes, helping partners reason about tradeoffs and priorities. 

  • Champion deep customer understanding and ensure data-driven insights drive prioritization and solution design, partnering with UX and Analytics on research as appropriate, and partnering with operational teams to assess and propose process changes needed to achieve business outcomes. 

  • Identify novel opportunities and rethink approaches to unlock new value for customers and the business leveraging market and Grainger understanding. 

  • Lead alignment across multiple cross-functional teams and business stakeholders, resolving conflicts and driving shared accountability. 

  • Compete with urgency by balancing speed, quality, and risk across initiatives to deliver maximum impact. Stay ahead of trends in adjacent technologies, competitive space, and customer needs and develop a clear strategy around how Grainger can win. 

You Have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required 

  • 7+ years of product management or equivalent experience required 

  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-team product initiatives 

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills 

  • Advanced ability to use data, experimentation, and insights to guide decisions 

  • Experience influencing senior leaders and executive stakeholders 

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments 

  • A passion for developing others and elevating product practices 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with logged-in customer portals and personalized digital experiences. 

  • Significant experience with web and product analytics platforms - such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Amplitude, or similar tools - to understand customer behavior, evaluate product performance, and guide prioritization.
