Janitor / Facility Custodian Roles & Responsibilities

Department: Facilities / Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment. This role supports production by ensuring work areas, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas meet company cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping standards. The Janitor plays a key role in supporting 5S, safety initiatives, and maintaining a professional workplace.

Primary ResponsibilitiesFacility Cleaning - Daily
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms throughout each shift.
  • Empty trash throughout the facility.
  • Offices, cafeteria, bathrooms, shop floor, and external trash bins.
  • Sweep and scrub production floors utilizing floor scrubber, as assigned.
  • Vacuum and clean office areas, conference rooms, and break rooms.
  • Clean windows, glass doors, and entrance areas.
  • Dust surfaces, furniture, lockers, and equipment where applicable.
  • Maintain cleanliness of cafeterias and vending areas.
  • Wipe down guard rails.
Manufacturing Support
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in production aisles.
  • Remove cardboard, plastic, and other debris from production areas.
  • Support production teams by keeping walkways clear.
  • Assist with spill cleanup following proper environmental procedures.
  • Maintain designated waste collection areas.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all PPE requirements.
