Department: Janitorial Supervisor
Job Title: Janitor
Work Days/Hours: Full time
Classification: Non-exempt Hourly
Job Description:
Janitorial services is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guest with excellent customer service at Silver Mountain. The primary purpose is to ensure that the public facilities are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, that general refuse is collected and disposed of properly, and that bathrooms, walkways and stairwells are kept free of debris and various slip/trip hazards. You will sometimes be asked to undertake details or to perform tasks that are not specifically mentioned in this job description or completely outside your area of responsibility. Your willing, cheerful and enthusiastic cooperation is expected and greatly appreciated.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm is a must.
  • You must be in good physical condition as this job requires laborious work during long periods in a 84 degree, humid environment.

Activities include but are not limited too
  • working on your feet for extended periods of time, walking, climbing stairs,
  • reaching overhead for prolonged periods, lifting heavy items (75+ lbs.)
  • moving heavy items, carrying heavy items, performing repetitive tasks for extended periods, lifting and picking things up from the.
  • Continual attention MUST be paid to the cleanliness and sanitation of public restrooms, and to various contact surfaces such as doorknobs, public telephones, handrails and tabletops. This may include removal of stains, rust or other unpleasant effects from sinks, toilets, walls, floors and locker facilities.
  • Refuse containers must be checked and emptied often and the receptacles themselves cleaned and/or re-lined with bags as needed.
  • Floors must be mopped if there is a spill. Papers, food and other obstacles should be removed as quickly as possible so as to avoid any potential for injury or further contamination of public walkways.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Be physically fit to perform strenuous labor
  • Safety and risk oriented
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.

Technical Skills:
  • Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.

Performance Skills:
  • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner and being able to answer questions professionally.
