Job Summary
The Claims Intern will provide support for James River Claims Department's innovation and automation goals. This position will primarily work with Claims leaders on technical projects including dashboards, automation and AI. This would be a part-time position, 5-10 hours a week.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Continuously exhibit and uphold Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Communication and Teamwork, Innovation and Customer Service.
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the basic principles of risk as it relates to insurance products and services.
  • Collaborate with various departments to complete assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with Data Analyst on projects involving AI and automation that will lead to improved outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience using Copilot and other LLMs.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of tools including Office, Power Apps and Automate.
  • Experience creating and working with data-driven business intelligence dashboards.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Continuous learning style.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Experience and Education
  • Active enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited institution in a 4-degree university. Major/degree preference is for STEM, business or finance.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in core courses preferred.
  • Academic experience working with machine learning and data (automation and AI) preferred.
