Job description

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is dedicated to empowering students by providing academic support that stimulates critical thinking and nurtures academic independence. Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is currently recruiting for a science tutor with a strong background in Anatomy and Physiology (APHY). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students in APHY coursework and be comfortable assisting with lab-related content, including basic microscope usage and identification of slides.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Support students in understanding microscope functions and identifying specimens under magnification.
  • Set a precedent of academic integrity and model responsible academic behavior.
  • Contribute to student learning, growth, and confidence in science coursework.
  • Develop strategies that promote scientific thinking and effective study habits.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to align tutoring strategies with course expectations.
  • Create supplemental learning materials as needed.
  • Stay updated on curriculum developments in Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions in TracCloud.
  • Distribute and collect student feedback as directed.
  • Refer students to additional campus support resources when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

$15.00/hour Scheduled up to 28 hours per week
Benefits: Fee remission at Ivy Tech Community
- Eligibility - after six (6) months of active employment, the employee may enroll in up to six (6) credit hours per semester during the period in which they are actively employed.
Tutor Qualifications/Skills:
  • Minimum of a B or higher in college-level Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Experience with microscopes and familiarity with histology content is preferred.
  • Comfortable explaining scientific concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Emotionally mature, dependable, and professional.
  • Open to feedback and capable of working collaboratively.
