Job description

Iveco Defense Vehicles designs and produces vehicles for military and civil protection applications. Iveco Defense Vehicles, headquartered in Bolzano, provides a product portfolio comprised of four segments: heavy vehicles for logistics, tactical vehicles, protected vehicles, and multi-role vehicles.

Iveco Defense Vehicles are built on cutting-edge anti-ballistic, anti-mine, and other life-saving technology, ensuring maximum mobility in the most difficult environments.

The Defense Vehicle Technician must perform failure analysis, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of tactical vehicle assemblies and subassemblies. He/she will report to the Production Supervisor. This is a salary, non-exempt position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Comply with standard shop safety programs.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Report any non-conformities identified through dynamic checks via standard computer systems and forms.
  • Repair fuel systems, electrical systems, diesel engines, cooling systems, transmissions, brake systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary drives.
  • Conduct assembly and subassembly tests to verify compliance with the specific work instructions and provide correct functionality.
  • Operates shop equipment including cranes, compressors, presses, grinders, and heavy hand tools.
  • Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling and PPE.
  • Utilize various computer software programs to record the results of rework and testing and transmitting required data.
  • Provide support at partnerโ€™s facility for rework activities on an as needed basis.
  • Retrofit equipment both on site and in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have at least 3 years actual and recent experience in repairing and maintaining automotive, heavy-duty trucks, tractors, or tactical vehicles.
  • Technical certificate/degree in Diesel Mechanics, Electro-Mechanical engineering, etc. preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical systems aptitude.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard materials, tools and equipment and skill in the use and care of tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly cycles.
  • Preferred areas of experience may be with automotive, heavy-duty trucks, tractors, or tactical vehicles.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50+ lbs., bend, and twist, move, transport items such as boxes and palettes.
  • Ability to safely stoop, kneel, crouch as needed.
  • Ability to communicate in potentially loud environments.
  • Willing to work various shifts and adapt to work hour changes to meet customer needs.
  • Availability for occasional travel for field assignments.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
