Advanced Radiology is one of the largest independent radiology practices in the tri-state area with the most experienced radiologists. The pay range for this role will depend on experience and qualifications.


Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm

Position Summary: โ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ

A Radiology IV Nurse works as part of the Advanced Radiology team to facilitate IV access, monitor patients during radiology procedures and provide proper patient care and post care.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential skills needed include a strong assessment ability and monitoring skills, excellent interpersonal communication and the ability to follow strict protocols. The primary job responsibilities of a Radiology IV Nurse include assessing patients for IV contrast administration, inserting intravenous catheters/heplocks, accessing compatible power ports and power PICCS, monitoring contrast reactions and extravasations, training of Technologists on IV placement, technique and infection control.

Specific duties and responsibilities for a Radiology IV Nurse job description include:

  • Performs venipuncture for IV catheter placement by following guidance from the Infusion Nurses Society
  • Provides and assists oral contrast to patients
  • Demonstrates proficiency in accessing power ports and power PICCS
  • Communicates procedural details and guidance to patients
  • Assures that the procedures performed are in accordance with the policies and procedures set by Advanced Radiology and the Infusion Nurses Society
  • Adheres to infection control guidelines
  • Reviews all necessary documentation to properly screen and assess the patient prior to the exam.
  • Manages patient responses to treatments, including any reactions, side effects extravasation, or complications
  • Provides training and competency evaluations for all Technologists performing venipuncture, focusing on infection control and proper technique
  • Maintains accurate inventory of the code cart, including but not limited to replacing and/or updating supplies and medications as needed
  • Assists in the procurement of all necessary supplies
  • Reviews lab results and possible collection of samples
  • Maintain complete and thorough documentation of patient care
  • Actively engages in meeting patient needs and assuring patient satisfaction
  • Collaborate with other care team members
  • Contributes to a positive climate and open communication for a team approach for optimal efficiency
  • Report any equipment issues to the supervisor that will require timely repair
  • Maintains active certification(BLS,CPR) and licensure

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of IV standards and procedures
  • Skill in IV insertions
  • Ability to establish and maintain mutually supportive, productive working relationships with colleagues, staff, and physicians.

  • Working knowledge of computers, software applications, technology, and peripheral office equipment

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Hold an active, valid, and unrestricted Connecticut RN State license
  • 0-2 years clinical experience as a nurse with advanced training in IV placement
  • Certified registered nurse infusion (CRNI)โ€ฏcertificate is preferred
