The Position:

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for supporting pharmacy operations through effective purchasing, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures accurate procurement of medications and supplies, maintains inventory integrity, and upholds adherence to barcoding standards and DSCSA regulations.

This position plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring product availability, operational efficiency, and compliance with all applicable pharmacy and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with all barcoding procedures and adherence to DSCSA regulations.
  • Train and educate pharmacy staff on barcoding and scanning processes to promote accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of USP 797 standards and applicable State Board of Pharmacy (BOP) regulations.
  • Perform routine and scheduled inventory audits and quality assurance checks in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead and execute inventory cycle and support formulary management initiatives.
  • Manage purchasing activities, including creating purchase orders, processing invoices, and coordinating ordering and receiving of medications and supplies.
  • Ensure accurate receiving, storage, and tracking of inventory within pharmacy systems
  • Support fulfillment operations by accurately picking, packaging, and preparing medications and supplies for shipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all waste disposal and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate shipment scheduling and communication to support continuity of patientcare.
  • Participate in the company’s quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education (CE) in accordance with regulatory and company standards
  • Must have IV Compounding experience in addition to reponsibilities above

Schedule:

  • Must be able to work Full time, Monday-Friday 12:30pm-9pm, 40 hours per week to include a Saturday rotation once every 6 weeks.
  • Must have experience with inventory working in the pharmacy setting, preferred Infusion Inventory experience
  • Must have experience with barcoding inventory, handling large volume inventory amounts, and physical inventory responsibility
  • Preferred experience with IV Compounding
  • Must have on the job work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Must be a licensed Pharmacy Technician for the state of GA
  • PTCB Certification preferred
Requirements:
  • High school diploma Required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Registered and/or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), as required by the State Board of Pharmacy, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of inventory management and/or pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Prior experience in a home infusion or specialty pharmacy highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, purchasing, and procurement processes. Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations, including DSCSA and USP 797
  • Must have experience with IV Compounding
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and processes
  • Current registration and ACPE requirements are met
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
