Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions -

  • Teach assigned courses in Comp. I and II,transfercurriculum,and/or developmental composition. Teaching assignments may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems, such as Zoomand ITV.
  • Assignmentsmayincludeface-to-faceteaching at variouslocalhigh school locations and travel toMcPherson and/orNewtonOutreachlocations. High school semesters may extend beyond theHutchCCacademic calendar.
  • Plan and implementappropriate activitiesto supplement instruction.
  • Plan, revise, and update curricula as assigned by the department chairperson.
  • Maintain records and files as requested by the department, includingsubmittinggradesin a timely manner.
  • Logon to the learning management system daily, respond to emails regularly,and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Arrive on time for work, attendworkregularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply withHutchCCpolicies, procedures,and practices.

Secondary -

  • Performother responsibilities as assigned by the department chairperson,theOutreach Center Coordinator,Associate Director of Outreach,or theVicePresident ofAcademicAffairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in English isrequiredor aMaster'sdegree in another field may be considered with anadditional18 graduate credits in English.
  • College teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
  • Ability to develop andmaintaineffective professional relationships.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender anddisabilitiespopulations.
  • Physical requirementsinclude: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; useappropriate judgmentand apply tact and courtesy indifficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn andcomprehendbasic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or withouta reasonableaccommodation.

SALARY and STATUS:
