IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Reports to: IT Manager
Status: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: Anchorage, AK
JOB SUMMARY: The IT Support Specialist provides responsive, customer-focused technical support for Aleut and its affiliated companies. This entry-level role supports end users by resolving routine hardware, software, Microsoft 365, application, and connectivity issues while deploying and maintaining employee technology. The position emphasizes exceptional customer service, adherence to standardized processes, accurate documentation, and continuous technical development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Champion Aleut values: accountability, transparency and rigor.
  • Deliver responsive, professional technical support that enables employee productivity and provides a high-quality customer service experience.
  • Provide first-level support for hardware, software, Microsoft 365, networking, printing, conferencing, mobile devices, and other approved business applications through established support channels.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document technical incidents, service requests, and resolutions, escalating complex issues to the appropriate support teams while maintaining communication with end users.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and recover endpoint devices and peripherals throughout their lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, equipment refreshes, and remote deployments.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory, lifecycle records, and documentation, while coordinating equipment repairs, warranty replacements, and secure disposal.
  • Perform approved administration and user support activities within Microsoft 365, including account provisioning, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and other supported services.
  • Adhere to established IT policies, procedures, security standards, and operational best practices, reporting security concerns and assisting with compliance efforts.
  • Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, and asset records to support consistent service delivery.
  • Participate in IT projects, technology deployments, and continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Develop technical knowledge and skills to support increasing levels of responsibility and career growth within the IT organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to learn new technologies and follow documented procedures.
  • Ability to lift standard IT equipment and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff of Aleut and affiliated-company employees; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks by prioritizing the order of importance.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Basic understanding of Apple hardware and operating systems.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Admin centers (e.g., 365, Exchange, Entra, Azure, etc.)
  • General use and knowledge of varying IT tools, both hardware related, and software based. (e.g., remote software, anti-virus/malware, RDP, etc.)
  • Maintain a professional appearance in grooming and dress, as well as a friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft based systems including Office suites, and operating systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Willingness to ask questions for clarification when given a task or project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. One (1) year of relevant IT help desk experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. CompTIA A+, Google IT support Professional Certificate, Microsoft Fundamentals Certification, or similar.
