The Role
The IT Technician will provide onsite technical support at a remote mine site, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of all technology systems that support mining operations. This role supports endusers, network infrastructure, hardware, software, communication systems, and operational technology (OT) used in the field. The technician will troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, manage equipment inventory, and work closely with the corporate IT team to maintain compliance with company standards.
What You'll Do
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide onsite support for desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, and specialized mining equipment interfaces.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a highdemand, fastpaced environment.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and updates of operating systems and applications.
  • Support minesite users with connectivity issues, authentication, VPN access, and account management.

Network & Infrastructure Support
  • Maintain network equipment including switches, access points, routers, and fiber/copper connections.
  • Monitor system performance and escalate issues as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining reliable communication systems, including VoIP, radios, and industrial wireless networks used in mining operations.

Operations Technology (OT) Support
  • Support field equipment such as rugged tablets, PLC interfaces, fleetmanagement hardware, and sensors used for production, dispatch, and safety monitoring.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure reliable data flow between equipment and central systems.

Equipment Management
  • Maintain accurate inventories of IT hardware and consumables.
  • Prepare and deploy new equipment according to company standards.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on devices and communication infrastructure.

Compliance, Security & Safety
  • Follow all minesite safety protocols and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Adhere to cybersecurity policies, ensuring secure configuration and proper user practices.
  • Support implementation of patches, updates, and security controls across all site systems.

Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed logs of incidents, resolutions, and system performance.
  • Update configuration records and asset documentation.
  • Provide regular status updates to IT leadership and site management.
