Job description

Purpose and Impact:
In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking an IT Site Design Specialist to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. We value candidates who are detail-oriented while also being able to think and react quickly to emerging and unique problem sets. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.
Work Schedule:
  • 5 Days (Mon - Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually; CONUS (multi-day travel).

Essential Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IT Site Design Specialist include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate effectively across a multidisciplinary team including engineers, architects, cybersecurity specialists, and stakeholders to analyze requirements, designing scalable and secure network architectures aligned with Organizational goals and cybersecurity standards.
  • Contribute to the development and sustainment of infrastructure, systems, and data architecture by supporting both logical and physical design efforts, ensuring alignment between conceptual models and deployed environments while promoting consistency, scalability, and interoperability across enterprise systems and platforms.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in producing high-fidelity network documentation using Microsoft Visio, translating complex operational and engineering requirements into clear, detailed visuals such as topology diagrams, rack elevations, and network boundary definitions while ensuring accuracy, standardization, and usability for design validation, implementation, and ongoing support
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and logical site surveys to assess and validate existing network infrastructure, identify gaps or discrepancies, and update legacy documentation to accurate "As-Built" status, ensuring current configurations are clearly documented and aligned with operational, engineering, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain rigorous configuration control and governance over Enterprise Architecture artifacts by ensuring version accuracy, enforcing traceability across changes, and upholding standardized processes and compliance requirements to preserve integrity, accountability, and alignment with enterprise policies and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of DoW IT infrastructure, on-premise hosting environments, and organizational structures to effectively align technical solutions with operational frameworks, support informed decision-making, and ensure network designs and integrations are compatible with existing enterprise capabilities and governance models.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, development, integration, IT infrastructure, or network engineering.
  • Technical Tools: advanced expertise in Microsoft Visio, including the use of custom stencils, layers, and data-linked diagrams.
  • Infrastructure Mastery: Working knowledge of DoW/DoW IT infrastructure environments, including networks, hosting environments, enterprise services, and operating within secure boundaries.
  • Cybersecurity Standards: Familiarity with DoW cybersecurity requirements, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, Zero Trust principles, and secure system designs.
  • Data & System Modeling: Experience developing data and system reference models.
  • Experience supporting DoW programs, including familiarity with DoW IT service delivery standards.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Security Clearance Required:
  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI

Minimum Years of Experience:

Required Certifications:
