The Project Manager will oversee scope, risks, budget, resources, and timelines while coordinating integration across IT initiatives.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Structures and plans the project: structures the project with the business lead and the business engagement manager, creates project charters and detailed project workplan, helps the team create realistic estimates, organizes and launches the team with clarity about roles, expectations and team operations/key processes.

  • Ensures the project is kept on track through day-to-day management of the work and deliverables against the plan, taking early corrective action on challenges, identifying and managing issues and risks, managing scope and schedule changes, managing the project budget, and reporting status.

  • Manages the resources: identifies all project/program roles and resources needed, works with project leadership to allocate skilled resources, and monitors and manages the resource plan, identifying resource conflict issues and identifying who will resolve the issues.

  • Creates a project environment that enables peak performance by team members: communication of a clear vision and business objectives, open disclosure of issues, alignment to project goals, coaching to clarify deliverables, and project norms.

  • Manages the finances associated with the project/program against the budget (including capital costs and expenses), alerting project leadership of expected variances well in advance, working with leadership on funding issues, and using contingency in an effective manner.

  • Facilitates and manages vendor relationships (e.g., system integrators or consulting firms) effectively, integrates vendors into the project team, and holds vendors accountable to project commitments.

  • Completes project close activities, including lessons learned, project documentation, and analysis of project performance.

  • Applies the Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) and the Project/Program Management and Portfolio Management toolsets appropriately based on the project characteristics.

  • Builds strong relationships with the project business lead and key stakeholders, ensures alignment with customer expectations, and facilitates project decision making.

  • Plans, prepares for, and facilitates project Steering Committee meetings to effectively report on project status, address issues, risks and resource challenges, and engage sponsors and key stakeholders in directing the project at key milestones.

  • Mentors junior project managers and contributes to the PMO Community of Practice and continuous improvement of project management standards and processes.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of information systems (application and infrastructure) experience in IT project management

  • Experience using a formal Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology

  • Experience using formal project management methods, techniques, and tools

  • Demonstrated experience managing full project scope including budget, planning, communication plans, and execution

  • Experience managing vendors and system integration partners

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, Planner, and Azure DevOps

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)

  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience

  • Experience working in regulated/validated environments (GxP, FDA, SOX)

  • Experience with portfolio/project management tools such as Planview or Apptio
