Job description

New England's favorite bakery is looking for a people & systems focused IT Manager to execute information technology plans in accordance with the company’s overall strategy. The selected candidate must be able to analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze and/or recommend commercially available software. This person must have experience in cybersecurity and the practice of protecting systems, networks, programs, devices, and data from digital attacks or unauthorized access. Upon occasion, you may serve as a project manager for information technology related projects as well.

Work Schedule: This is an on-site position.with 1 direct report. Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM; (but flexible). May require additional hours or weekend hours at times.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.

  • Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems, upgrades and enhancements.
  • Use object-oriented programming languages, as well as client/server applications development processes, multimedia and Internet technology.
  • Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and ease the sharing of information.
  • Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve work flow.
  • Interview or survey workers, observe job performance in order to determine what information is processed and how it is processed; evaluate opportunities for improving job performance and efficiency and implement solutions.
  • Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system; evaluate new equipment or software packages.
  • Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs. Support management with report writing skills to obtain relevant data and information critical to business decisions.
  • Analyze information processing or computation needs and plan and design computer systems, using techniques such as structured analysis, data modeling and information engineering.
  • Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
  • Serve as project leader for all computer systems projects within the company.
  • Prepare cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on systems upgrades, enhancements or new implementations.
  • Maintain integrity of all databases and computer systems within company network design.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Services

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in a similar role in the manufacturing sector (food and beverage preferred).

Technical Knowledge and Skills required:

Technical Knowledge

The candidate must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Computer hardware and software systems and programs
  • Computer networks, network administration, network installation, and backups
  • Computer troubleshooting
  • Security systems including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
  • Email and browser / client specific compatibility issues
  • Planning, implementing and maintaining MS SQL Server databases
  • Evaluating, designing, recommending and managing the implementation of current software technologies
  • Microsoft Office and reporting tools
  • Knowledge and experience in Infor SyteLine considered a plus.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • The overall nature of this position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required (lifting of 25 lbs or less).
  • At times, may be required to work in the bakery environment where it can be very hot (>90 degrees F) seasonally and where you may be exposed to flour, gluten, eggs and wheat via inhalant or food handling.
