Title: IT/OT Systems Engineer I – (Subcontract at an NRI)

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking an IT/OT Systems Engineer I to serve as the primary onsite technology resource for our Oelwein manufacturing and distribution facility. This role supports both traditional IT infrastructure and operational technology (OT) systems that keep plant operations running efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT professional with experience supporting desktop systems, networks, servers, and manufacturing technology environments. Acting as the face of IT for the facility, this individual must be comfortable troubleshooting issues independently while collaborating with enterprise infrastructure, systems, network, and OT teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & End User Support

  • Provide onsite support for PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, and endpoint devices.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
  • Support Windows-based systems, Active Directory, and user access administration.
  • Assist with workstation deployments, imaging, hardware refreshes, and asset management.

 

Network & Systems Administration

  • Support local servers, virtual environments, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Assist with network troubleshooting, switch replacements, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor and maintain technology assets, equipment rooms, and network closets.
  • Partner with enterprise infrastructure teams on upgrades, implementations, and support initiatives.

 

IT/OT & Manufacturing Technology Support

  • Support devices and systems connected to manufacturing and operational technology environments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting plant-floor technology and warehouse operations systems.
  • Coordinate with OT, operations, and engineering teams to resolve technology issues impacting production.

 

Project & Documentation Support

  • Participate in infrastructure and plant technology projects.
  • Support deployment of new technologies and operational improvements.
  • Maintain documentation, procedures, configurations, and support records.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems and end-user technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals, switches, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory administration.
  • Experience supporting PCs, printers, and general IT infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Systems Administration experience.
  • VMware or virtual server environment experience.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment experience.
  • Exposure to Operational Technology (OT) systems.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as WhatsUp Gold.
  • Understanding of industrial networking and plant-floor technologies.
