IT Hardware & Software Asset Management Contractor
FOLSOM, CA
2 Days Onsite
Long Term Contract.
Primary Purpose
Under the direction of the Manager/Director, this role provides IT Hardware and Software Asset Management services to ensure effective, compliant, and auditable management of the IT asset lifecycle. The contractor supports and improves asset
management policies, processes, and standards aligned with industry best practices and corporate requirements, partnering with business units, procurement, legal, finance, and vendors from acquisition through decommissioning.
Essential Job Functions:
Asset Management & Compliance
Manage IT hardware and software inventories, including usage, licensing, and compliance.
Track assets, licenses, and maintenance/support agreements across the full lifecycle.
Conduct audits and spot checks to ensure policy, licensing, and contract compliance.
Ensure asset security during inventory, deployment, and decommissioning.
Procurement & Lifecycle Support
Process requests for IT hardware, software, and maintenance/support services.
Support procurement, receiving, deployment, redeployment, and decommissioning activities.
Coordinate with procurement, provisioning, and technical support teams.
Policies, Documentation & Training
Develop and maintain asset management policies, procedures, and documentation.
Promote consistent application of asset management practices across departments.
Product & Change Management
Support new product onboarding by reviewing license terms, support models, upgrade paths, and environmental fit.
Engage required teams and initiate/manage the RAP (Request for Asset Purchase)
process.
Manage asset activities for upgrades, decommissions, and future product roadmaps.
Corporate Responsibilities
Adhere to CAISO core values, policies, and safety programs.
Required Skills & Experience Core Experience
5+ years of experience in IT Hardware and Software Asset Management.
Strong knowledge of ITAM/SAM lifecycle management, compliance, audits, and vendor contracts.
Strong knowledge of Software Licensing principles, terms, frameworks, and usage rights.
Familiarity with ITIL and/or CMMI frameworks.
Tools & Systems
ServiceNow: Hands-on experience with ITAM/SAM modules, asset records, contracts, workflows, and reporting.
Flexera (FlexNet / Flexera One): Experience with license management, compliance analysis, optimization, and audit support.
Compliance & Financial Knowledge
Experience with software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, device based, SaaS, cloud).
Ability to review license agreements, renewals, and support terms.
Experience reconciling asset financials and partnering with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Security.
Process & Soft Skills
Strong documentation, training, and process improvement skills.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and audit-focused.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a contractor role while managing multiple priorities.
