Lab Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analytical testing on samples in the analytical services laboratory according to established protocols and work instructions.
  • Provide accurate analytical data to support process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management activities.
  • Prepare solutions, clean glassware, and properly dispose of solid and liquid waste to support overall laboratory operations.
  • Conduct basic operational preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment following work instructions.
  • Promptly and accurately record, calculate, and report analytical results in laboratory systems and documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience performing hands-on testing and sample handling.
  • Good oral and written communication skills for clear interaction with team members and internal customers.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to analyze outcomes against established standards.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to optimize laboratory efficiency and productivity.
  • Experience with laboratory testing and sample preparation in a chemistry or biology environment.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain reliable laboratory records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) operation.
  • Understanding of basic Gas Chromatography (GC) operation and gas chromatography principles.
  • Experience with wet chemistry techniques and analytical chemistry procedures.
  • Experience in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline.
  • Experience with FTIR and other analytical instrumentation is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance processes in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Chromatography Data Systems (CDS).

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
