Job description

Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior IT Application Specialist who will lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of AI-driven solutions to design, configure, and maintain Geotab's enterprise IT application systems. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert, shape the strategic roadmap for complex application portfolios, and mentor team members to raise the team's overall AI and application maturity. If you love AI-powered automation, building intelligent workflows, and working at the frontier of enterprise technology - we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Senior IT Application Specialist your key area of responsibility will be owning the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise applications - from roadmap definition and architectural strategy through deployment, ongoing health, and continuous AI-driven improvement. You will use AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI daily to write, review, and orchestrate code; build and deploy advanced workflow automations using LLM APIs and platforms such as GCP Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, and n8n; and design AI agent skills and autonomous workflows with production-grade governance. You will also perform daily health checks, drive automation of health monitoring, lead performance tuning initiatives, and coordinate upgrade planning to ensure high availability across the enterprise application landscape.

To be successful in this role, you will need to work closely with business owners to understand needs, manage expectations, and identify improvement opportunities, while partnering with adjacent engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot complex issues and develop long-term solutions. You will facilitate high-stakes incident response and architectural review sessions, lead AIOps monitoring deployments for predictive detection and automated anomaly identification, and provide strategic recommendations to management on AI adoption and technology direction. The ideal candidate is a strong team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, thrives in a flat organization, and communicates complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and business audiences.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Use AI to write, review, and orchestrate code daily using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI - demonstrating advanced proficiency.

  • Evaluate and select AI tools, frameworks, and platforms for team adoption, assessing business fit, security, and scalability.

  • Own end-to-end design, planning, execution, and testing for projects, enhancements, and break/fix issues across enterprise applications.

  • Build and deploy advanced workflow automations using LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, and platforms such as GCP Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, and n8n.

  • Design and implement AI agent skills, tool integrations, and autonomous workflows with production-grade governance.

  • Deploy and manage AIOps monitoring for predictive detection, automated anomaly identification, and AI-driven incident response.

  • Architect technical strategy for critical applications - from roadmap definition through deployment - often in ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Lead problem-solving across the team and adjacent teams, facilitating high-stakes incident response and architectural review sessions.

  • Mentor IT Applications Specialists through knowledge transfer, cross-training, and centralized knowledge management.

  • Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge base content, leveraging AI for drafting and knowledge retrieval.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and demonstrable experience in AI/automation technologies may be substituted.

  • 5-8 years of experience in technical, functional, and system support of IT applications, including cloud platform and enterprise application environments.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered automation in production environments (portfolio, projects, or practical assessment required).

  • Advanced proficiency using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI) with demonstrated ability to write, review, and orchestrate production-grade code.

  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, and Bash; expert-level Linux administration; and advanced knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML, LDAPS) and Zero Trust Architecture.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure), containerization (Docker), infrastructure automation, and AIOps/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or similar).

  • Availability to participate in a 247 on-call rotating schedule.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
