CENTERS, LLC is seeking a Part-Time Personal Trainer for UAB Campus Recreation. CENTERS, LLC is a professional management firm specializing in facility, operation, and program management for higher education. CENTERS' management approach is customized for each client yet retains our uniform quality. Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Part-Time Personal Trainer is responsible for providing safe, effective, and individualized fitness sessions for UAB Campus Recreation clients. This role supports member wellness by delivering high-quality personal training sessions, maintaining a safe fitness environment, and delivering excellent customer service. The Personal Trainer follows established policies and professional standards to promote client satisfaction, retention, and results.
Essential Duties

• Conducts safe, effective, and goal-oriented personal training sessions for clients of varying fitness levels
• Provides exercise instruction, demonstrations, and motivation using proper technique and professional judgment
• Ensures client safety at all times within strength training and cardiovascular areas
• Conducts client consultations, fitness assessments, and program design using approved methods and equipment
• Maintains accurate client documentation, scheduling, and session records using designated software or systems
• Provides quality customer service to all clients and prospective clients in a professional and inclusive manner
• Communicates effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling, client needs, and operational concerns
• Enforces personal training program policies, procedures, and professional standards
• Enforces facility rules and safety procedures and assists during emergencies as needed
• Attends required personal training and departmental staff meetings
• Stays current with applicable fitness trends, standards, and safety practices
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
  • Possess current Personal Training Certification from one of the following organizations, examples include, but not limited to: ACE, NASM, ISSA, ACSM, NSCA; additional NCCA-accredited certifications are often acceptable and will be reviewed for consideration
  • Leadership and supervisory abilities

  • Excellent organizational, and written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of standard practices in personal training and recreational fitness

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a recreation, collegiate, or community fitness setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with fitness assessments and exercise prescription
  • Experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels
  • Proficiency with Fitness Assessment Equipment, including but not limited to: Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Body Fat measurement with calipers, Waist to Hip Ratio, Cardiovascular Testing, Muscular Strength and Endurance Testing, and Flexibility Testing.
  • Proficient with Exercise Prescription and developing progressive workouts for clients.
