Summary/Objective:

Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems for commercial production. Processes piping systems while directing a field crew. Ability to interpret and follow schedules. Assists Site Superintendent with day-to-day activities of field crew. In addition to supervisory responsibility, this position is that of a working foreman, responsible for directly performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises field crew, subcontractor and craft activities, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, mechanical, scheduling and documentation
  • Interprets sketches, blue prints and isometric drawings
  • Oversees layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings
  • Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
  • Works pipe crews safely and productively in an outdoor or indoor manufacturing, process facility
  • Responsible for performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks
  • Tracks time sheets, plan/schedule work and generate material takeoff's from plans as needed
  • Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
  • Manages installation of pipe systems and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to job specifications
  • Tests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks
  • Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Required:

  • 8+ years pipe fitting experience
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and lead teams of 8 to 10 individuals, ensuring high productivity, team cohesion, and successful project outcomes
  • Capable of reading/understanding drawings & P&ID's
  • Must be able to use a computer for access to project models and electronic drawings
  • Knowledge to field measure/layout of pipe systems in the field
  • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

Work Environment:

  • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands:

  • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
  • While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

  • May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of Pipe experience and 5+ years holding a managerial or Foreman position.
  • Prior military experience
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
