Primary Purpose of this position:

This role is responsible for the in-shop prefabrication of plumbing and piping systems for commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with plumbing assemblies, a strong understanding of mechanical drawings, and a commitment to precision and safety.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Interpret plumbing and piping blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to exact specifications using hand and power tools.
  • Assemble piping systems using appropriate fittings, supports, and joining methods (e.g., soldering, welding, gluing).
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure assemblies meet project standards and tolerances.
  • Coordinate with project managers, BIM Coordinators and field teams to ensure prefabricated systems align with installation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of materials, dimensions, and fabrication processes.
  • Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized shop environment.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in plumbing or pipefitting preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in plumbing or piping fabrication, preferably in a shop setting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Skilled in operating pipe threading machines, saws, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Journeyman Plumber or Pipefitter License (if applicable)
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
  • Forklift certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and frequently carry 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to lift tools, pipe, and fixtures overhead
  • Ability to work at heights including climbing on and working from ladders, scaffolding, stairs and manlifts
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as bend, crouch, kneel and work in small spaces
  • Must be able to use hands to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
