Job description

Job Title: Pipe Fitter Supervisor

Location: Duncan, SC

Schedule: 1st shift

Employment Type: Full time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter Supervisor to oversee pipe fabrication and installation activities in a shop or field environment. This role is responsible for supervising pipefitters, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical pipefitting knowledge and the ability to drive production while maintaining safety and workmanship excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily pipefitting operations to ensure quality, safety, and productivity targets are met
  • Lead and manage pipefitters, helpers, and subcontractors as assigned
  • Interpret and work from isometric and orthographic piping drawings
  • Coordinate with welding, fabrication, quality, and engineering teams
  • Ensure proper fit-up, alignment, tolerances, and material usage prior to welding
  • Enforce company safety policies, PPE usage, and job site safety requirements
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure Safety Task Assessments (STAs) are completed
  • Monitor productivity and manpower; develop recovery plans when production goals are not met
  • Manage Fitter productivity targets:
    • Fitter Booths: 120 diameter inches per 8-hour shift
  • Verify materials, fittings, and components match project specifications
  • Identify and resolve field or shop issues related to fit-up, rework, or material discrepancies
  • Work with Quality Control to address non-conformances and inspection findings
  • Ensure accurate completion of daily reports, manpower logs, and turnover documentation
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas
  • Participate in daily production and coordination meetings
  • Uphold a professional, respectful, and team-focused work environment

Additional Duties

  • Provide coverage for other supervisors as needed
  • Coordinate rework to meet schedule and quality requirements
  • Assist with training and mentoring of pipefitters and apprentices
  • Issue disciplinary documentation when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of pipefitting or piping fabrication experience
  • Previous supervisory or lead pipefitter experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pipe fitting methods, materials, and tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret isometric, orthographic, and P&ID drawings
  • Understanding of piping materials, valves, fittings, and supports
  • Strong safety leadership and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (production reports, timekeeping, or project software)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial, refinery, or power plant environments
  • Familiarity with ASME piping codes
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (forklifts, manlifts, )
