Job Title: Production Quality Supervisor
Shifts Available: 1st and 2nd Shift
Job Overview:
The Production Quality Supervisor oversees quality control operations for assigned teams, ensuring products meet established standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role supervises quality staff, implements and monitors quality procedures, conducts audits, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Supervision
Lead and supervise QA team members by providing guidance, training, and support to promote development and ensure full understanding of AQL principles (how and when to apply them).
Schedule staff and allocate resources to meet production timelines and quality expectations, including executing rework plans, addressing hold items, and mitigating production risks.
Conduct performance evaluations using defined metrics and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
Oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of quality standards and procedures across all shifts.
Verify critical-to-quality attributes such as fill weights, lot codes, label integrity, packaging, and product appearance meet specifications.
Ensure required inspections are properly completed, including first-article, end-of-line, and hourly checks.
Support adherence to regulatory programs (e.g., FDA, ISO), company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Identify quality gaps and collaborate with production teams to resolve issues.
3. Process Improvement
Work with production, engineering, and other departments to optimize processes and identify cost-effective improvements.
Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances and operational inefficiencies.
Provide disposition decisions related to hold items and CAPA activities.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, deviations, and corrective actions.
Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, trends, and incidents to leadership.
5. Training & Development
Train, mentor, and coach employees on quality standards, inspection techniques, and QA tools/equipment.
Promote continuous improvement initiatives and foster a strong culture of quality.
6. Risk Management
Identify potential quality risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
Investigate customer complaints and product defects, coordinating resolution efforts across departments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelorโs degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Typically 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, regulatory standards (ISO, GMP), and industry best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, quality-focused mindset.
Proficiency with QA systems and tools (e.g., SPC, ERP).
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications such as Six Sigma, AQL, or ISO 9001 are a plus.
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and operational activity.
Extended standing and walking may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods.
