Job description

Reports To:ย Senior Vice President & General Counselย 

Paralegalย

Employment Status:ย Full-time ย 

Location:ย Rock Island, Illinoisย 

Paralegalย supports theย General Counsel andย legalย teamย in a regulated environment.ย ย You willย assistย withย anyย litigationย as well as provide support forย financial transactions.ย ย 

Essential Job Functionsย 

  • Maintain well-organizedย litigation matter files (chronologies, key pleadings, correspondence, deposition materials) and keep litigation calendars current (deadlines, hearings, discovery milestones).ย ย Coordinate with outside counsel on deliverables, document exchange, and status updates; help prepare internal matter summaries for the General Counsel and business stakeholders.ย 

  • Run the eDiscovery workflow; initiate and administer legal holds (custodian identification, notices, acknowledgements, reminders, releases, defensible documentation), coordinate ESI preservation and collections with IT and vendors, manage review logistics with outside counsel, and drive production/quality control (production specs, secure transfers, production logs, chain-of-custody); support privilege-log workflows and discovery tracking artifacts.ย 

  • Support loan closings end-to-end byย maintainingย closing checklists, tracking conditions precedent, and coordinating signatures and deliverables among internal teams, borrowers, lenders, and outside counsel.ย 

  • Draft/compile and manage closing documentation under attorney direction, including as applicable:ย 

  • Loan/creditย documentsย 

  • UCC/collateral package,ย includingย UCC-1 financing statements (plus amendments/terminations as needed), track filing confirmations, andย maintainย lien evidenceย 

  • Closingย deliverables, including officer/incumbency certificates, organizational documents, good standing certificates, authorizing consents/resolutions,ย insurance policiesย 

  • Prepare andย maintainย electronic closing binders (indexing, version control, signature packets, final PDFs), distribute final executed documents, and update internal repositories/matter management systems.ย ย Track post-closing deliverables and covenant/reporting ticklers and escalate issues to the lead attorney and/or General Counsel.ย 

  • Draft client facing communications for attorney review, including status updates.ย ย ย 

  • Proofread documents with meticulousย consideration and keen eye forย spelling,ย grammatical, and formattingย errors.ย 

  • Conduct legal research to support corporate actions and decisions.ย

  • Knowledge, skill, and ability toย manage, organize,ย and store documentsย using standard control protocolsย and followingย established internal processes and procedures while alsoย maintainingย compliance.ย 

  • Exemplary writingย and proofreadingย skills with meticulous attention to detail.ย ย 

  • Ability and willingness to followย directives from directย supervisor, senior management, or seniorย legalย team members.ย 

  • Ability toย collaborateย and communicateย (both written andย verbal) effectivelyย and professionally.ย 

  • Ability and willingness to take initiative without prompting within scope and quality standards.ย

Education and Experienceย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in paralegal studies,ย legalย studies, or a relatedย fieldย 

  • Three (3) yearsโ€™ย previousย work experienceย as a paralegal orย similar roleย required.ย 

  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)ย required.ย 

Salary Requirements:
$65000-$75000

Physical Requirementsย 

  • Constant sedentary work for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with occasionalย movingย and transporting up to 25 pounds.ย Must be able to detect,ย identify, inspect,ย observe, perceive,ย and assessย administrative functions.ย Must be able to constantly communicate and exchangeย accurateย information.ย Constantlyย operatesย and uses telephone, computer, and other relevant equipment and office machineryย while performing repetitious movements.ย ย
