Description

It's time for a change, a good change, and we are ready for your expertise! Our practice is growing and we need your help! Our physicians provide urology surgical services at the local area hospitals (TGH, BayCare, HCA etc). The Surgical Scheduler position provides planning and services for the patient. You will facilitate the scheduling and performance of surgical procedures; provides support paperwork and documentation to patients and physicians; maintains awareness of various HMO, PPO, and insurance carrier restrictions to assure all necessary criteria are met prior to surgery. You will work closely with the area hospitals in order to effectively schedule surgeries. Epic EHR highly desired but not required.

  • Meet or call prospective surgery patients to determine date, time frame and facility for procedure.
  • Check patient insurance coverage, determine if referral or authorization for surgery is needed, and start process if needed
  • Set time, date and location for procedure; arrange pre-operative testing and/or exam as needed
  • Prepare and provide pre-op patient packet either in person or by mail
  • Advice and counsel patient regarding food, fluid and medication intake and restrictions prior to surgery
  • Maintain excellent communication with surgery patients, including returning phone calls promptly
  • Answer telephone lines; make, reschedule, or cancel appointments, forward or take messages as needed
  • Maintain charts in EHR (Epic) to indicate status of case, billing and insurance

Requirements

Two years of surgery scheduling experience desired. Excellent understanding of medical terminology. Must be able to positively communicate and interact with patients and co-workers. Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation needed. Epic EHR highly desired but not required


This position is located on Davis Island right next to the hospital. It is an in-office position, not remote.
