Evaluate alternative means of treating transactions.* Reconcile general ledger accounts and work with accounting and accounts payable staff to ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled.* Ensure that monthly financial statements are prepared on a timely and accurate basis.* Utilize and apply knowledge of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles, and terminology of accountancy, including an understanding of how transactions made in other departments affect accounting records.* Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to determine revenue recognition from grant agreements.* Respond to information/reporting requests from both internal and external sources, when needed. Actively participate in interdepartmental meetings and assessing the impact accounting or procedural changes will have on the team.
