Job description

Irrigation Supervisor, City of Odessa – Parks & Recreation Department

The City of Odessa is seeking a qualified Irrigation Supervisor to oversee daily irrigation system maintenance operations for City parks, sports fields, and public grounds. This position supervises irrigation crews, inspects systems, prioritizes and assigns work, and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with City and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect parks and irrigation systems; identify leaks, coverage issues, and maintenance needs
  • Prioritize projects and supervise irrigation maintenance crews
  • Adjust irrigation schedules to ensure water efficiency
  • Test, repair, and maintain backflow prevention devices and irrigation components
  • Create and manage work orders; review daily activity and material usage reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper equipment use
  • Respond to emergency events and perform technician duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of irrigation system maintenance experience
  • Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • TCEQ Licensed Irrigator and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certifications (required)

Work is performed indoors and outdoors and requires physical activity, including bending, lifting, and use of safety equipment.
