Job description

Job Summary
Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking an experienced Irrigation Foreman to lead and oversee irrigation installation, repair, maintenance, and field operations for residential and commercial properties. This leadership role is responsible for managing irrigation crews, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting operational efficiency and revenue growth.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in irrigation systems, water management, crew leadership, and overall landscape and tree care operations. This individual must be highly organized, capable of leading teams in the field, and committed to upholding Moon Valley Nurseries' standards of excellence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead irrigation crews on residential and commercial job sites
  • Conduct property walkthroughs and assess irrigation system needs
  • Diagnose irrigation issues and develop repair, upgrade, and installation recommendations
  • Perform and oversee field work including trenching, digging, pipe installation, valve repair, clock/timer programming, drip systems, and irrigation upgrades
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards
  • Coordinate daily schedules, crew assignments, equipment, and material usage
  • Train, mentor, and develop irrigation team members on best practices, safety procedures, and company expectations
  • Monitor crew productivity and maintain accountability for job performance and completion timelines
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding irrigation recommendations, repairs, and project updates
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, field reports, and job documentation through HubSpot or similar platforms
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Support sales opportunities through identification of additional irrigation and tree care service needs
  • Identify, qualify, and communicate sales opportunities to the Sales team, while independently assisting customers and closing sales opportunities when appropriate
  • Maintain receipts and records for job costing
  • Assist with profit and loss statements
  • Coordinate with operations and Tree Care leadership to maintain service quality and customer satisfaction

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum 5+ years of irrigation experience with strong knowledge of irrigation systems, irrigation clocks, water management, and landscape operations
  • Previous leadership or crew management experience preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read irrigation plans and identify system deficiencies
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred
  • Comfortable using digital platforms, mobile applications, and reporting software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must pass MVR, DOT, QAL, and drug screening requirements
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Education
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Physical requirements/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Able to work outdoors in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
