Job description:
Horticulture Services seeks candidates for the full-time Irrigation Division Lead position to begin May 1, 2026. The fundamental purpose of the position is to manage and oversee the Irrigation Division while lending operational support to the Operations Manager. Consequently, the position requires significant experience and extensive knowledge within the domain of irrigation. In addition, the position requires the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
General Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operations and employees of the Irrigation Division.
  • Assist Operations Manager with daily and weekly operations.
  • Maintain and protect the company’s professional image while interacting with clients and while performing other job duties.
  • Exhibit the company’s core values to both clients and other employees.
  • Participate in continuing education by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

Duties:
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly Operations Meeting.
  • Attend and contribute to quarterly and annual meetings.
  • Organize and update scheduling of irrigation employees.
  • Conduct daily dispatch responsibilities.
  • Serve as support to irrigation employees, aiding in difficult irrigation decisions and performing special irrigation tasks that are difficult for new employees.
  • Effectively train new irrigation employees.
  • Perform snow removal duties as needed in winter.
  • Perform duties during transitional seasons as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Relevant Experience and Extensive Knowledge Within the Domain of Irrigation, Customer Service, Quality Control, Computer knowledge, Communication, Time Management, Trainable.
  • As mentioned in the Job Description, the position requires the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Required Licenses:
  • Driver’s License (Class D) with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Wage:
  • $70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience level (in bi-weekly paychecks).

  • A company vehicle will be provided for work use only.

Telephone:
  • Position requires a smart phone; phone will be supplied by the company.

Vacation: Two weeks (i.e., 80 hours) paid vacation annually; vacation during June and July should be limited.
Sick/Personal: 48 hours of paid sick/personal; 80-hour maximum accrual (see Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time policy: https://www.dli.mn.gov/sick-leave).
Paid Holidays (7): New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day (NOTE: New Year’s Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and day after Thanksgiving may be floating if snow removal duties require work on any of those days.)
Annual company party: attendance is required for pay.
