Job description

The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent to manage all aspects of the golf course and facility grounds. This will include, but is not limited to, crew management, leading monthly safety meetings, pesticide/fertilizer applications, irrigation repair, drainage installation, daily course set up, and building maintenance.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • 1-3 years turf grass management
  • 2+ years of golf course experience required
  • Indiana Pesticide license required within 6 months
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • 2 or 4 year turf degree preferred, but not required
  • GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense management
  • Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business
  • Must be highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail
  • Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and trains foreman, irrigations technician and other employees in the maintenance department
  • Prepares weekly schedules for foreman, irrigations staff and other employees in the maintenance department
  • Monitors inventory of all maintenance equipment and the use of the equipment, preventative maintenance schedule, and safety training
  • Works closely with Superintendent in managing annual budget and maintenance recordkeeping
  • Works closely with Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic strategies to maintenance of the golf course daily, weekly, monthly and yearly fertilization, irrigation, etc. schedules
  • Calibrates and operates pesticide sprayers
  • Institute and implement all Indigo Golf Partners Human Resources guidelines
  • Assists Superintendent in informing members about present and future maintenance activities
