How you’ll make an impact in this role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Hospitalist to join an employed position at our Level 1 trauma center and flagship location.

  • Expansive Collaborative Network: Join a high-volume, growing team of 80+ providers within an 800+ bed Level 1 Trauma Center, delivering integrated care across specialized units including the Burn Center, the Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the dedicated Brain and Spine Hospital. 
  • Maximum Scheduling Flexibility: Benefit from a PRN structure with no minimum shift requirements and the rare advantage of a schedule published six months in advance. With a team of 80+ providers, you have consistent, ongoing opportunities to pick up 12-hour day or night shifts as they fit your lifestyle. 
  • Focused Clinical Scope: Manage a manageable daily census of 15–16 patients within a closed ICU environment where dedicated intensivists and ICU staff handle critical care.
  • Procedural Autonomy: Perform procedures if interested. While the team does not mandate procedures, they offer retraining for physicians looking to sharpen those skills.
  • Advanced Academic Setting: Practice within a facility hosting multiple residency (IM, FM, Anesthesia) and fellowship programs (Cardio, Critical Care).
  • Licensure & Education: Must hold an MD or DO and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Experience: Hospitalist experience is a plus, though high-potential new graduates will be considered.

Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis (86th Street) is an 800+ bed facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center. As a flagship location, it features eight Centers of Excellence, including a Transplant Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the Lucas Family Brain & Spine Hospital. The campus also serves as a hub for advanced specialized care with a dedicated Burn Center and an extensive orthopedic program.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

  • Internal Medicine Focused: The program strongly prefers IM-trained physicians. FM candidates are very rarely accepted.
