Network Engineer (OCONUS - Iraq)

Totally Joined For Achieving Collaborative Techniques (TJFACT) is a minority owned, CVE verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) performance driven professional services government contracting company that provides a broad spectrum of services and solutions to the U.S government agencies and organizations.

TJFACT is seeking a Network Engineer to support our DOS DT (Diplomatic Technology) IT team in Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq.

The Network Engineer provides expert-level support for the Department of State network infrastructure. Specific responsibilities vary by location, but in general, are responsible for maintaining all aspects of an enterprise network, ensuring that mission-critical resources are always available when needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the coordination of administrative, project management, and operational programs for all IT specific projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining the local area network and ensuring the network remains available, as well as ensuring the wide area network connections remain available.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, patches, troubleshoots, tests, and documents system and network hardware (Avaya, Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto) on the local and wide area networks.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot core Cisco switches and routers, and configure and secure new network devices.
  • Ensure workstations and servers can communicate across network paths and that the network maintains a high level of survivability.
  • Analyze network performance, optimize equipment, and review configuration changes. Install and inspect infrastructure and replace end-of-life wiring and equipment.
  • Ensure network equipment is patched, updated, and backed up as needed.
  • Thoroughly document network layout and validate through network operation centers.
  • Develop and documents standard operating procedures, network layout documentation, and key contacts list for support staff.
  • Plan the installation of new Local Area Networks (LANs) and complex modifications or extensions to existing ones.
  • Recommend installation of new or modified data bandwidth circuits, bridges, modems, routers, multiplexes, computer hardware and software.
  • Prepare equipment specification, layouts, cost estimates, user training and system documentation.
  • Install, maintain, trouble shoot, test and documents network hardware including WAN routers, LAN routers, hubs, switches, and modems.
  • Support systems involving a wide variety of different platforms, operating systems, applications, and desktop configurations.
  • Collect, evaluate and summarize capacity, performance, problem, resource and workload data to recommend configuration changes to maximize the effective and efficient use of installed technology.
  • Provide on the job training and support for newly hired locally employed staff members in all facets of the position.
  • Provide network and technical support for the Head of State (HoS) Communications circuit.
  • Liaise with IZFN ISPs and GoI IT staff.
  • Support cryptographic, secure voice, and secure VTC equipment necessary to support DOS communications circuits/networks and HoS communications.
  • Use software and hardware tools used to determine nature of problems such as Netview, PNMS, PRTG, Solarwinds utilities, LAN analyzer, signal generator, data line test set, and power line monitor.
  • Operate standard office equipment including microcomputers and related software applications.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Maintain records.
  • Read, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree Network Engineering with a minimum 5 years related or 13 years network engineering related experience in lieu of education.
  • Certification in Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNP certification or equivalent.
  • Network+ certification (or equivalent or higher) is required.
  • Security+ certification (or equivalent or higher) is required.
  • Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto devices.
  • Experience with Prime, TACAS, ISE, Solar Winds, and VSS.
  • Substantial knowledge in current Cisco applications and tools.
  • Active security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BICSI Installer is desired but not required.
  • Familiarity with Visio for documenting networks is desired.
