The Research & Development department for all IPG manufacturing plants is in Marysville, Michigan. R&D investigates new technologies, product designs, develops new products, improves existing products, and reverse engineers competitor products. There is an abundance of pilot manufacturing, testing capabilities, analytical instruments, and computer resources. IPG R&D has employed student co-ops since 1996. Students perform various tests in the lab, collect data in lab notebooks, input data in computers and work on some special projects under the management of an IPG R&D Chemist. Past students have majored in a wide range of fields including chemistry, math, business, medical, teaching, and more.
