Location: Eglin AFB, FL
Schedule: Fulltime, Monday–Friday, daytime hours (no federal holidays)
Employment Type: Contract position supporting the Department of Defense / Defense Health Agency

Job Description

We are seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to join the Invisible Wound (Traumatic Brain Injury – TBI) Clinic team caring for service members with TBI and related “invisible wounds.” You will work in a multidisciplinary military clinic, providing handson nursing care, helping coordinate services, and supporting patients and families through evaluation, treatment, and recovery.

  • Provide basic practical nursing care and assist providers in the assessment and ongoing management of TBI and Invisible Wound patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, histories, and focused assessments; prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures.
  • Assist with clinic procedures and treatments according to Military Treatment Facility (MTF) policies and within LPN/LVN scope.
  • Help coordinate referrals, tests, and followup visits, including patients returning from outside facilities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians, RNs, case managers, rehabilitation and behavioral health professionals, and other clinic staff.
  • Reinforce patient and family education on diagnosis, medications, safety, and followup care.
  • Participate in telehealth activities (teleconsults, telemedicine, telementoring) as needed.
  • Document care in MHS GENESIS and other approved systems and follow all safety, infection control, and privacy (HIPAA) requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN nursing program.
  • Active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in any U.S. state or territory (including DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, or U.S. Virgin Islands).
  • At least 1 year of fulltime LPN/LVN clinical experience within the last 3 years.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required immunizations, health screenings, and security/background clearances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Prior experience working with military populations or in a Military Treatment Facility.
  • Experience in pain management, neurology, rehabilitation, behavioral health, or TBI/invisible wound populations.

Work Environment & Hours

  • Fulltime (up to 80 hours per twoweek pay period).
  • Daytime shifts (typically an 8.5–9hour shift between 0700–1600) with a 30–60 minute unpaid meal break; schedule set 4–8 weeks in advance.
  • No routine work on the day of observance of federal holidays.
