The Investor Relations Associate will play a critical role in supporting the company's engagement with the investment community. As a key member of the Investor Relations team, this individual will assist the Sr. Director in shaping the company's external financial messaging through rigorous analysis, thoughtful insights, and best-in-class materials. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a collaborative mindset. This position offers exposure to both key internal and external stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Aggregate and synthesize financial and operational data across departments to support external messaging and investor communications.
  • Prepare, analyze, and refine materials for quarterly earnings, investor presentations, conferences, non-deal roadshows, board meetings, and internal updates.
  • Manage and update the Investor Relations calendar, ensuring seamless coordination around earnings, conferences, meetings, and other key milestones.
  • Conduct peer, market, and industry benchmarking to inform strategy, competitive positioning, and investor outreach.
  • Support the development of press releases, talking points, Q&A, and other communication materials for investor-facing events.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across IR deliverables, ensuring alignment with corporate messaging and regulatory standards.
  • Provide thoughtful, timely analysis to assist leadership in preparing for investor discussions and evaluating market sentiment.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, investment banking, equity research, investor relations, corporate finance, or a comparable analytical field.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling messages.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Capital IQ) is a plus.
  • Professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • CFA or progress toward the designation a plus but not required.
  • Real estate or REIT experience is a plus but not required.

WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative, highly cross-functional team.
  • The position includes in-person work requirements consistent with the hybrid policy located at Essex's corporate office in Irvine. The hybrid policy is subject to change at Essex's sole discretion.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods as part of routine work.
  • Occasional travel for investor property tours or internal events.

New hires generally start between $94,000.00 - $117,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
This role is also eligible to participate in Essex's discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
