Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what is important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Support the Investment Strategy team in the management, analysis, and development of proprietary liquid alternative investment strategies, including volatility risk premium strategies. Responsibilities include developing quantitative tools and reporting, monitoring portfolio risk and performance, conducting investment research, and supporting client communications and strategy-related materials.

The role works closely with investment strategists, portfolio managers, technology professionals, and other internal partners to maintain and enhance investment processes, support client needs, and contribute to product development. The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, analytical, self-motivated, and comfortable solving open-ended problems in a collaborative and client-focused environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of quantitative reports, analytical tools, and monitoring processes used to evaluate portfolio exposures, strategy performance, and investment risks.
  • Support investment strategists and portfolio managers in the ongoing management and analysis of proprietary liquid alternative and volatility risk premium strategies.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze large data sets used in investment analysis, performance attribution, strategy research, and client reporting.
  • Maintain proprietary databases, models, and Python-based tools, ensuring data and analytical outputs are accurate, consistent, and appropriately documented.
  • Monitor market developments, portfolio risks, and strategy performance, and assist with the preparation of investment commentary, strategy updates, and client communications.
  • Prepare analysis and supporting materials in response to inquiries from clients, consultants, prospects, Financial Advisors, and internal partners, including participation in client reviews and strategy discussions.
  • Conduct investment research and contribute to internal briefs, presentations, white papers, marketing materials, and other thought-leadership content.
  • Collaborate with investment, technology, operations, sales, and distribution teams to improve analytical capabilities, automate recurring tasks, and enhance investment and client service processes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the firm's proprietary investment strategies, methodologies, and processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a quantitative or financial discipline, required.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in the investment industry, quantitative research, data analysis, software development, or a related area. Relevant graduate-level work may be considered toward the experience requirement.
  • Master's degree or progress toward the CFA designation preferred and may be considered in lieu of a portion of the required experience.
  • Programming proficiency in Python or another language used for quantitative analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn additional analytical and software platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manipulate, and analyze large and complex data sets.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with derivatives, options, volatility, or related quantitative investment strategies preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain quantitative or technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated initiative and responsiveness, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interest in investments, financial markets, portfolio construction, and quantitative investment strategies.
  • Curiosity about artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with an interest in responsibly leveraging these tools to improve analysis, research, automation, and team workflows.

Salary range for the position: $70,000 and $140,000 per year. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
