Job description

The Franchise Feasibility & Investments Manager is a position that requires strategic and analytic thinking, the ability to work cross-functionally and play technical lead on franchise feasibility projects that align with the financial goals of our client and its franchisees. This is a new strategic role that will partner with a cross- functional team to drive strategic hotel development efforts for our client and its franchisees.

The Franchise Feasibility & Investments Manager will report to the Director, Strategic Finance & Franchise Investments. In this critical role, the Manager will support efforts to drive strategic hotel development through deal analysis, market opportunity assessment and analyzing strategic fit with our clients corporate goals. Analysis will include franchise contract and pipeline valuation, market and asset evaluations, franchise pricing elasticity, cash flow waterfalls, and investment analysis techniques including NPV, IRR and DCF. The position will require the candidate to effectively manage demanding projects, show enthusiasm for collaboration with other departments and be able to operate with a sense of urgency and discipline.

The Manager will leverage market and property analytics to develop financial projections, capital deployment analyses and drive alignment of profitability with franchisee profitability. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and managing monthly reporting of contract valuations, as well as market and asset evaluations, in order to support enterprise-wide business decision making. The Manager will also provide ad-hoc support on strategic projects including research & analysis, financial assessment, and preparation of professional documents for management.

Primary Duties & Accountabilities…

  1. Franchise Feasibility & Investment Analysis

    1. Leverage internally available data to provide investment analyses and valuation support for the decision-making process of our internal clients, which include Franchise Development, Franchise Operations, Finance and Executive Management
      1. Prepare deal value analysis including impact of market revenue opportunity, capital deployment, pricing, and other deal levers
      2. Develop, maintain, and enhance monthly deal value reporting
      3. Assess the feasibility of new hotel franchise projects through market and asset evaluation to ensure strategic and financial fit
      4. Develop materials for management review to support the presentation of strategic development efforts toward corporate goal achievement
    2. Develop and maintain pipeline planning, reporting and valuation
    3. Partner with Business Intelligence on development of analytical tools to ensure analyses meet desired financial and strategic outcome
    4. Facilitate feedback to internal stakeholders on market opportunity and asset evaluations
    5. Provide forward looking health of business reporting to management
  2. Strategic Finance Analytical Support

    1. Provide research and analysis for strategic projects
    2. Assist with financial modelling, feasibility, and project assessment
    3. Prepare professional documents for management and Board of Directors
    4. Responsible for review, analysis, and financial modeling of investment projects to ensure accurateness of projections and investment case


Skills, Educational Background & Experience…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or equivalent years of experience
  • Four to seven (4 to 7) years with financial analysis, modeling, real estate feasibility and/or investment analysis experience
  • Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Deals well with ambiguity and has ability to build projects from the ground up
  • Solid understanding of real estate economics and the ability to apply understanding to the franchise business model
  • Ability to communicate and explain complex financial issues to non-financial professionals
  • Strong drive for data integrity, strategic thinking and translating data into business insights
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to perform in high pressure environment
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Self-starter mentality, ability to work independently, and motivation to learn new techniques, skills, and knowledge
