Description & Requirements
Elder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, VA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work directly with clients, managers and technical staff to understand business needs.
  • Develop technical plans, and deliver data-driven analytical solutions that solve client problems.
  • Create and deploy predictive models from a wide variety of data sources and types using the latest mathematical and statistical methods.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Management, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience that includes data extraction, ingestion, and modeling.
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with writing advanced SQL queries
  • Knowledge of model evaluation approaches including techniques for improving initial model development and deployed models
  • Ability to work with client Subject Matter Experts to understand business rules and translate them to technical specifications
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to teammates and clients

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with behavioral analytics
  • Experience with Oracle Apex
  • Experience with fine-tuning BERT-style modeling for downstream NLP tasks
  • Experience with large language models
  • Familiarity with developing GPU enabled AI/ML solutions
  • Experience using Git-based version-control, such as Github/Gitlab
  • Familiarity with building CI/CD pipelines

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must have an active TS/SCI

Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
